Itching to get your hands dirty and into the guts of PlayCrafter? We've got the feature just for you!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.playcrafter.com/#destination=Workshop"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 274px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/SlPFutO_pKI/AAAAAAAAAl0/7Hnbv4DiDn8/s400/pieceCreator_screenshot.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5355841788080792738" border="0" /></a><br />We're very excited to announce the <a href="http://www.playcrafter.com/#destination=Workshop">PlayCrafter Piece Creator</a>. The Piece Creator gives you access to the game piece's XML definition. What that means is that you can create new game pieces by combining various functionality. You want a buggy that doesn't shoot? No problem! A match-3 marble? Sure thing!<br /><br />Oh and did I mention the Piece Creator is FREE and doesn't require a Premium account? Well, it is. :-)<br /><br />You can look at the XML of any free piece and use it as a starting point. Once you're satisfied with the behavior, you can upload a graphic onto it and upload a sound effect for collisions. Alternatively, you can upload a SWF with your own animations and as many sound effects as you want. For more detailed information on how to create your own pieces, click on the "Need Help?" button on the Piece Creator window.<br /><br />So go ahead, and get scripting!Mathildehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02717294251159073154noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2427847572000346697.post-40458679533795311672009-07-02T18:20:00.000-07:002009-07-02T18:25:56.933-07:00Contest Winners: "Reflections" by Vyen and "Toast Child" by ToastCongratulations to our June 28th contest winners:<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">General:</span><br />Congratulations to <a href="http://www.playcrafter.com/#userID=6478">Vyen</a> for winning in the general category with his game: "<a href="http://www.playcrafter.com/#gameID=57503">Reflections</a>". Even despite the last minute nature of things, our setup worked out great. We were able to borrow a friend's flat screen TV to show off a game being created. And we had 3 workstations set up for people to try PlayCrafter for themselves.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/SiWIf7w3ZiI/AAAAAAAAAjg/zwawNicF1zI/s1600-h/MakerFaireBooth_1_crop.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 245px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/SiWIf7w3ZiI/AAAAAAAAAjg/zwawNicF1zI/s320/MakerFaireBooth_1_crop.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5342826615144932898" border="0" /></a><span style="font-size:85%;"><span style="font-style: italic;">John (aka ForkliftKid) makes a game on the big screen<br />while several teens try their hand at game creation.</span></span><br /></div><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /><div style="text-align: left;">It was great to see people's enthusiasm for PlayCrafter. You can now earn Pips, the PlayCrafter virtual currency, for free by inviting friends or by selling your game pieces to others. You can also buy game pieces, songs, backgrounds that others have created.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How many Pips do I earn by inviting friends?</span><br />You earn 30 Pips when your friend creates an account, another 30 Pips when they reach Level 2 and an additional 60 Pips when they reach Level 10.<br /><br />You still earn 15 points when your friends sign up and now you also earn 5 to 13 points when your friends level up up to level 10.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How many Pips do I earn by selling game pieces?</span><br />Right now, you can earn from 13 to 104 Pips per piece sold depending on what type it is and how much profit you decide to make.<br /><br />When someone purchases one of your pieces, your account will be credited with a number of Pips equal to the profit that you set.The rest of the proceeds go to other creators if you are deriving someone else's game piece and to PlayCrafter for making the system that allows you to sell your pieces in the first place.<br /><br />So, go on. <a href="http://www.playcrafter.com/#destination=Workshop">Start selling your own game pieces now</a>!Mathildehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02717294251159073154noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2427847572000346697.post-91549754218872394132009-06-01T17:19:00.000-07:002009-06-01T18:09:53.886-07:00New Pieces: Loose Blocks, Weak Blocks and ReticleWe have a set of cool new blocks that come in various shapes and sizes. With this added real-estate, we've been able to redesign the instructions to make them more specific and understandable.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/Saxgm1gb3DI/AAAAAAAAAh8/nxrelbNOQv4/s1600-h/instructions.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 299px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/Saxgm1gb3DI/AAAAAAAAAh8/nxrelbNOQv4/s400/instructions.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308724281077390386" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">New Game Screens</span><br />The start, win, lose, high scores and pause screen have all been updated. They are now slicker and show options like "I like it!" and "Leave a comment" in a prominent way.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Faster Initial Loading</span><br />We've sped up the initial loading time of PlayCrafter. Now the Workshop isn't loaded until you actually go there and the game player loads only when you first play a game.<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/SaxdTOSof0I/AAAAAAAAAh0/x-K0Xxw2pkM/s1600-h/workshopLoading.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 225px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_MtXjsy5Bjbs/SaxdTOSof0I/AAAAAAAAAh0/x-K0Xxw2pkM/s400/workshopLoading.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5308720645598117698" border="0" /></a>Mathildehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02717294251159073154noreply@blogger.com0
